Flavor Flav is Set to Release His Solo Debut

By: Old School Tribune
September 11, 2006

Leveraging off of the surprising, yet overwhelming success of his reality TV show, Flavor Flav is scheduled to release his debut solo project, "Flavor Flav!" on Halloween.

Flavor Flaaaaav!

Don't expect a catalog of albums like he and his Public Enemy crew produced during the 80's and 90's.  Flav says that he "got some things off my chest," in this project and that it will most likely be his only solo effort.  "Flavor Man" will be the first single from the album, released under his own label Drayton Records.

Known to the majority of the Hip Hop world as the greatest Hypeman, Flav is actually a real artist who plays several instruments and was the lead rapper on two of Public Enemy's more popular songs, "911 Is A Joke" and "Can't Do Nuthin' For Ya Man."  The album also includes two R&B tracks, which Flav notes will grow on listeners once they get used to his singing voice.

Flav's career went into a tailspin in the mid 90's due to drug abuse, but was resurrected in 2003 when he was cast on VH1's reality TV series "The Surreal Life."  Flav's popularity on "The Surreal Life" lead VH1 executives to ultimately reward him with his own reality TV show,  The "Flavor of Love," which, in its second season, posted the highest ratings for a season debut in VH1's history.
